Reddit-

This seems like an interesting website to pop up when researching universal or single-payer healthcare however it piqued my interest. What I found was a subreddit all about universal healthcare and why Americans "hate" it. It was originally posted as a question from a guy from New Zeland just trying to gain some more insight into why America was so against it. Interesting enough, I found that this was a wonderful place to gain insight into many different peoples' opinions in one place. More than a few "Redditors" chimed in with their perspective which in-turn taught me a lot about how not everyone is well educated on the topic and many people don't see how there is a beneficial aspect to raising their taxes more. I thought one man's opinion to be valid after all of the previous research I have done, "First of all, taxes would definitely go up significantly in order to compensate for it and a lot of American's are advocating for fewer taxes as people have a hard enough time getting by financially. Second, transitioning healthcare from a privatized industry to a government-mandated industry would be an absolute nightmare to work through and would take a very long time to sort out and actually implement. Plus, since that would remove the need for health insurance, jobs would be lost and healthcare companies would go out of business. It's also not really a fair comparison to compare New Zealand with a population of almost 5 million people (quick Google search, feel free to correct me) to America with almost 330 million people. It's automatically going to be a more complex issue when you have that size of the population." (gothbb, reddit) Some interesting things I managed to pull out of that were the fact that s/he thought that the transition time would be ridiculous and completely outweigh any good it would do along with the fact that we would lose so many jobs because of the private healthcare industry would go under. I thought that to be interesting because in my previous research I found that even if you have universal healthcare, the money that is collected by the government can still be spread to the private industry which would create jobs, not take them away.

In the end, I did have to ask myself how reliable of a source Reddit actually is for an English project, let alone the final. I will see in the end if I use any of it.
